Welcome to Project Respect
Mariposa County Project Respect (MCPR) is a community-wide effort to end bullying in Mariposa County. To that end, MCPR is committed to creating a safe, trusting, community environment of mutual support, kindness and respect.
MCPR realizes that it will take a community-wide approach to end bullying and that bullying is not just a school problem. Our strategies include:
Professional Development
As adults learn more about the dynamics of bullying and how to intervene when the see it,
we will be able to better meet the needs of the youth in our community. Trainings for teachers will be provided
at every school throughout the school year. Coming this September, our two demonstration sites, Mariposa
Elementary and Lake Don Pedro Elementary, will be attending a training administered by
Committee for Children. All teachers, yard duties, bus drivers, and administration from these two
schools will attend this training, as well as a teacher representative from every other school in MCUSD.
Student Education
Students will receive the Steps to Respect
or the Second Step Curriculum in their
elementary and middle school classrooms. Ask your teacher which curriculum they are implementing
in your child’s classroom!
Administrative Support
The Mariposa County Unified School District
and Mariposa County Board of Supervisors have adopted resolutions to show
administrative support for these efforts.

A campaign has been launched in the community
featuring posters, banners, bumper stickers, stickers, newspaper ads, and
more to increase the community’s awareness of bullying and what can be
done about it. A series of articles is being published by the Mariposa Gazette
and other local news sources and newsletters to inform parents and community
members about the various aspects of bullying. As the Project expands, this
website will provide information and resources for everyone in the community to use.
